Dismissed cops to be reinstated: PHQ

DHAKA, 8 Feb 2025 (BSS) - The Police Headquarters in a statement tonight said they are set to reinstate the dismissed policemen, who won at the Appeal Tribunal.

"Arrangements are being made at the Police Headquarters to reinstate those, who won at the Appeal Tribunal," it said.

Those who did not file the departmental appeal against the dismissal or removal orders could not be considered for reinstatement due to legal obstacles, it said.

Those who have criminal cases against them for moral turpitude, financial corruption and other charges could not be considered, it also said.

During the previous government's tenure, 1,522 applications for reinstatement of dismissed police personnel for various reasons were received at the Police Headquarters.

Among the applicants, 1,025 were constables, 79 were Naiks, 180 were ASIs/ATSIs, 200 were SIs/Sergeants/TSIs, 10 were inspectors and 28 were non-police members.

A committee headed by a DIG was formed in August last year to review their reinstatement applications.The committee has already submitted a report with recommendations to the Police Headquarters to this end.

The Police Headquarters is working sincerely to ensure that the dismissed police members get justice.

In the statement, the Police Headquarters reiterated its request to the dismissed police members not to engage in any indisciplined acts.
