Initiatives taken to diversify jute products: Seikh Bashir Uddin

KHULNA, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) - Commerce and Textiles and Jute Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin has said initiatives have been taken to diversify the jute goods in an effort to exploit potentials of the jute.

“The golden era of jute would be revived,” he said while inaugurating a 3-day jute goods fair on BSCIC regional office premises here yesterday.

The fair is being organised with the slogan "Let’s come and change the country, change the world”. The Department of Jute and the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) have jointly organized the fair.

Bashiruddin said the government is organizing diversified jute fair at different places across the country with a target to impart training to the small jute entrepreneurs and to make cost effective and available the raw materials of the jute goods.

Even the fair will also help to exchange the ideas between the jute entrepreneurs and the users of the jute goods, he said, adding that the entrepreneurs must innovate unique jute products, which would create scope for value addition and commercially viable through transforming it as practical household items.

Director General (DG) of the Department of Jute Jinat Ara spoke at the function as the special guest while Divisional Commissioner of Khulna M Feroz Sarker presided over the meeting.

Earlier, the textiles and jute adviser visited different stalls of the fair and talked to the entrepreneurs about the potentials of the jute goods. There are fair a total of 30 stalls in the fair will remain open from 4pm to 8pm for visitor till tomorrow.
