CHATTOGRAM, Feb 13, 2025 (BSS)- The World Radio Day was celebrated in Chattogram as elsewhere in the country today with a call for airing and disseminating time-benefiting programs to play a pro-active role to aware people of disastrous impact of climate change.
Bangladesh Betar Chattogram Centre has chalked out elaborate programs to mark the day in line with the theme of this year's World Radio Day - "Radio and Climate Change".
Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin inaugurated the day’s program by releasing balloons at Betar Bhaban premises in city’s Agrabad commercial area.
A rally led by Divisional Commissioner was brought out from Chattogram Betar Centre which was participated by senior government officials, Betar centre officials, artists and technicians.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Dr. Md. Ziauddin said Betar under the banner of Swadin Bangla Betar Kendra had played a significant role in the Liberation War in 1971.
“Bangladesh Betar is playing an important role as a vital organ of the government in disseminating all the activities taken by the government for public welfare and increasing public awareness among the common people,” he added.
He called upon the Betar officials and artists to make innovative programs to aware people of vulnerable areas especially in the coastal belts over the havoc and impact of climate change.
Betar Chattogram Centre Director Md. Mahfuzul Haque presided over the function while Md. Shahidul Haque, associate professor of Communication and Journalism of Chittagong University, member secretary of Chattogram Press Club Zahidul Karim Kochi and Betar Regional News Controller Molla Md.
