Seminar on 'Higher Studies in France' held at DU

DHAKA, March 9, 2025 (BSS) - A seminar titled 'Higher Studies in France' was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the Dhaka University (DU) campus today, highlighting scopes of higher education in the European country.

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), an organization working to improve DU's position in the world university rankings, organised the programme with support from the Expertise France Group and the Campus France Bangladesh.

With IQAC Director Prof M Razaul Islam in the chair, France Ambassador to Bangladesh Marie Masdupuy attended the programme as the chief guest.

Naasiba Hossain, country head of the Campus France Bangladesh, presented an article on higher studies in France and Director of International Centre for Ocean Governance Prof K M Azad gave vote of thanks.

Teachers and students of various departments took part in the question and answer session.

Speaking as a special guest, DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Sayema Haque Bidisha said, "Every year many meritorious students of our university go to different countries for higher studies. This kind of event provides students with guidelines, helping them pursue higher education abroad."

Prof Bidisha stressed the need for exchange of academic and research programmes between the countries to further strengthen the mutual friendly relation.
 
In response, Ambassador Marie Masdupuy assured support to Bangladeshi students for higher studies in France. 

"Every year hundreds of Bangladeshi students go to France to pursue higher studies," said the envoy, urging the students to seek advice and assistance from the France Embassy and recognised institutions and to avoid fraudulent consultancy by so-called virtual groups.

Cultural Attach‚ of France Embassy in Bangladesh Batiste Lebret attended the event as a special guest.
