DHAKA, Mar 22, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stressed the need for maintaining unity at any cost despite differences of opinion.
“We have to maintain unity at any cost. There might have difference of opinion, we will sit and discuss,” he said adding “We will try to refrain from doing anything that would help the dictator regain its power,” he said.
He was virtually addressing an iftar programme organized by 12-party alliance at a Malibagh hotel here today.
Tarique Rahman said reforms anticipated by the people should be implemented through discussions with all stakeholders.
He said democracy means assurance of people’s right to vote. Some people are saying elections will be held after completion of reforms. But I personally believe that reforms are ongoing process,” he said.
The BNP leader said if his party is voted to power, they will bring qualitative change in education and healthcare sector.
The programme was chaired by Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) chairman and coordinator of the 12-party alliance Mustafa Jamal Haider and moderated by Jatiya Party spokesperson Syed Ehsanul Huda.
BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman, Nagorik Oikya's Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Jatiyatabadi Somomona Jote's Fariduzzaman Farhad, Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, AB Party’s Mujibur Rahman Manju, BLDP's Shahadat Hossain Selim, JSD's Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan, Jatiya Nagorik Party's (NCP) Akhtar Hossain, Gana Odhikar Parishad's Faruk Hasan, and Jatiya Party's (Kazi Zafar) Kazi Nahid also spoke.
