President asks judicial council to investigate allegation against Justice Akhtaruzzaman 

DHAKA, Mar 23, 2025 (BSS) – The President has asked the Supreme Judicial Council to investigate into the allegations against Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman of the High Court Division.

According to Supreme Court website today, the President has sent instructions to the Supreme Judicial Council for a complete investigation into the case of Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman in accordance with Article 96(5)(b) of the Constitution.

Amid protests by students at the Supreme Court premises and demands for resignation of the 'partisan, corrupt and fascist' judges, the High Court Division initially had asked 12 judges to refrain from their judicial engagement from October 20.
 
Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman is among those 12 judges.

The Supreme Judicial Council sends details to the President after scrutinizing any complaint raised against a High Court judge.

The Supreme Judicial Council is constituted comprising three senior judges of the Appellate Division headed by the Chief Justice.
