DHAKA, March 29, 2025 (BSS) - Additional Police Commissioner and Chief of Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Rezaul Karim Mallick today said they have taken all possible preparations as the city dwellers can celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr in a festive and safe atmosphere.
"The DB has always been ready so that the city dwellers can celebrate Eid safely," he said.
He made the remarks at a press briefing on activities taken by DB on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr at the DMP Media Center here today.
The DB chief said police activities have been intensified in Dhaka Metropolitan areas to maintain law and order on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
"As part of the move, checkpost and patrol activities have been intensified in the metropolitan areas," he said.
Mallick said that 667 patrol teams of DMP will be on duty in two shifts in 50 police stations of DMP every day from today to ensure public safety during the long Eid vacations.
In addition, 71 police checkposts are being operated by DMP at various important and strategic locations to increase security in the metropolitan areas. Auxiliary police forces have already been appointed to assist the police and they will play an effective role in maintaining law and order.
Along with the uniformed police, a significant number of plainclothed DB teams are working tirelessly in the field for ensuring security of the metropolis.
"DB will continue to work as a 'vanguard' for the security of the city residents," he said.
He stated that DB activities have been further accelerated in shopping malls, railway stations, bus and launch terminals.
Mallick also said that on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, DB's intelligence surveillance has been increased more than ever before to prevent anyone to carry out sabotage at various financial institutions, shopping malls, railway stations, bus and launch terminals.
"In addition, DB's cyber team has increased surveillance through the use of information technology," Mallick said.
He added DB is active in preventing any misinformation on the occasion of the upcoming Eid using cyber space. Besides, DB is very active in preventing the production and supply of fake money ahead of the upcoming Eid.
Already, several active members of the gang have been arrested in DB operations along with a large number of fake notes and equipment of producing those. Besides, DB's cyber team is monitoring online around the clock to prevent the sale of fake notes online.
"If any untoward incident has occurred or is likely to occur in the neighbourhood, house/market during Eid, inform the local police station or DB," he asked city dwellers.
"Moreover, the DMP control room number or the national emergency service number 999 can be contacted," he added.
The DB chief said, "If there is any information related to sabotage, chaos and security risks at any place including shopping malls on the occasion of Eid, please provide information to the DB."
