Eid jamaat to be held at 8:30am at National Eidgah

DHAKA, Mar 30, 2025 (BSS) – The main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at 8.30am tomorrow at the National Eidgah in the capital.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has completed all preparations to facilitate the devotees to offer their Eid prayers in a peaceful and smooth manner.

Administrator of DSCC M Shahjahan Mia at a press conference on Saturday said they have prepared the Eidgah where about 35,000 devotees could offer their prayers at a time.

People from different classes and professions, including the members of the Advisory Council, diplomats and dignitaries will join the Eid jamaat at the National Eidgah.

Urging the city dweller to take part in the main Eid jamaat timely, Shahjahan said like previous years all arrangements have been taken so that the devotees can offer Eid prayers comfortably and safely.

Besides, Met office forecast no rain on Eid day. However, all necessary preparations have been made for alternative arrangements in case of any adverse situation, he said.

If the weather is unfavorable, the congregation will be held at 9 am at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, the DSCC official said.

Noting that special security measures have been taken to ensure security for the devotees, he said members of law enforcement agencies including police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in uniform and plainclothes will perform duty round-the-clock.

Besides, necessary measures have also been taken for the convenience of the devotees for their ablution and sanitation, Shahjahan said.

A medical team and ambulance service will be kept ready for primary treatment and emergency healthcare services.

There will have a good arrangement for drinking water and comfortable carpet will be rolled out. The devotees have been asked not to carry their prayer mats and water.

The devotees will enter the Eidgah through two gates while five exit gates were prepared for them to leave the venue after the prayers.

There will also have a separate gate for the entry and exit of the women devotees.
