Eid jamaat at Sholakia Eidgah at 10am tomorrow

KISHOREGANJ, March 30, 2025 (BSS) - Sholakia Eidgah here in the district will host the Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat (congregation) at 10:00am tomorrow.

Centering the largest Muslim festival, the district administration has stepped up security in and around the venue to facilitate the devotees to offer their Eid prayers hassle-free.

All preparations including foolproof security measures were almost complete to hold the 198th Eid jamaat at the Sholakia Eidgah, Sholakia Eidgah Maidan management committee president also Kishoreganj deputy commissioner (DC) Fauzia Khan told reporters after visiting the historic site on Saturday.

She said devotees will not be allowed to enter the grand venue with anything other than a cap, prayer mat and mobile phone.

No one will be allowed to enter the ground even with an umbrella. For the convenience of the devotees arriving at the Sholakia Eidgah Maidan, two special trains named Sholakia Express will operate on the Kishoreganj-Mymensingh and Bhairab-Kishoreganj routes tomorrow.

Khatib of Boro Bazar Masjid in the town Mufti Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah will lead the congregation. In absence of Mufti Abul Khair, Hoybatnagar AU Kamil Madrasa lecturer Maulana Zubair Ibn Abdul Hai will take the lead.

In a bid to ensure security, five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), 1,100 police members in uniform and plainclothes and hundreds of RAB and Ansar members will be deployed in and around the Eidgah venue.

For further security of devotees, law enforcers will take position on roofs of buildings in the adjacent areas of the ground.

The attendees will require passing through at least four police checkpoints to enter the Eidgah Maidan.

RAB and policemen will monitor movement of people with binoculars from six watch towers, in addition to four drone and several CCTV cameras across the area.

Members of fire service, a medical team with six ambulances, a police quick response team and a bomb disposal team will remain active in the Eid ground.
