The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) brought out the procession following the main Eid jamaat of the city corporation held at the old ground of Dhaka International Trade Fair in the city's Agargaon area this morning.

All people reached in front of the South Plaza of the National Parliament Bhaban.

The entire Agargaon area was filled with chants of "Eid Mubarak, Eid Mubarak". The parade featured traditional musical instruments, decorated horse-drawn carriages, bullock carts, a band party and a variety of colorful displays.

At the front of the parade, five beautifully adorned horses were placed, accompanied by 15 horse-drawn carriages and 10 puppet shows depicting historical events from the Mughal and Sultanate periods.

Following the procession, a brief cultural program was held in front of the South Plaza of the Parliament Bhaban. Artists from Jatiotabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) performed Eid songs and other popular songs. During the event, the people were served traditional Eid treats like semai, sweets, and batasha while enjoying the performances.
Besides, a two-day Eid fair began on the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center premises today, which will end tomorrow.

Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain addressed the cultural event as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the 2024 July Uprising and recalled the contributions of the injured people in the uprising.

"This year's Eid truly feels like Eid. The traditional Eid procession in Dhaka has been organized after perhaps a few hundred years. In the coming days, the city dwellers will celebrate Eid together every year," the adviser said.

From now on, the Eid festival would be joyful, he said, adding, the people won't have to spend time sitting at home watching TV.
"Everyone will take part in the Eid procession together, enjoy the fair, and share happiness and sorrow together," Asif said.

Earlier, the Eid jamaat at the old ground of the Dhaka International Trade Fair was held with the participation of thousands of people for the first time this year.

Earlier, the DNCC authority made a 46,000 square feet pandal by rolling out carpet along with ensuring arrangement for ablution outside the pandal.

However, the pandal was filled with the devotees before the scheduled time for the Eid jamaat while hundreds of people also joined the congregation outside the pandel. Mawlana Qari Golam Mostafa conducted the Eid jamaat.

Besides, a special security measure was taken to ensure the safety of the devotees while the whole ground was brought under surveillance through the CCTV cameras.
