Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in festive mood with due dignity

DHAKA, March 31, 2025 (BSS) - The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslims, was celebrated in festive mood with due dignity with due dignity in the capital and elsewhere across the country today.
 
The Muslim devotees across the country celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr by offering Eid prayers.
 
In the hope of gaining the pleasure of Almighty Allah, millions of Muslims offered Eid prayers under the Samiyana at Eidgahs, mosques and open fields this morning.
 
The main Eid congregation was held at the National Eidgah Maidan in Dhaka at 8:30 am.
 
Chief Adviser to the Interim Government Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus offered the holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan, where diplomats and dignitaries attended the EId Jamaat.
 
Besides, people from different walks of life, including Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser M Fouzul Kabir Khan, Religious Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain and, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam offered prayers there.
 
After the prayers, a special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for peace and prosperity of the country and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

The Chief Advisor exchanged greetings with the Musullis at the end of the Eid prayer.
 
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) organized the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah. There were special arrangements for women and foreign diplomats to offer prayers at the main congregation.
 
Arrangements were also made for ablution, drinking water and mobile toilets for the Musullis. Special security measures were taken at the National Eidgah to organize the Eid congregation smoothly.
 
The second largest congregation in the capital was held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Five more Eid congregations were also held here.
 
Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DSCC) organized a joyous procession in line with Dhaka’s 400-year-old tradition Sultan-e-Mughal period to make the holy Eid-ul-Fitr in a more festive mood.
 
The colorful parade featured five well-decorated royal horses, around 15 horse-drawn carriages, a marching band, and artistic displays.
 
The procession began at 9:00 am on Monday from the old Trade Fair grounds near the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre. It ended in front of the South Plaza of the Parliament Building on Manik Mia Avenue, after parading main thoroughfares of Agargaon and Khamarbari intersection.
 
Besides, a puppet show featuring historical scenes from the Sultan-e-Mughal period was also organized, which added extra joy to the participants. At the end of the procession, the participants were entertained with semai and sweets.
 
A colorful procession was taken out on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan led the procession.
 
The university's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, provosts of various halls, teachers, students, officials and employees and leaders of various student organizations participated in the procession.
 
The procession began at 8 am after the first Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at the DU Central Mosque, Masjidul Jamia. The procession ended at the altar of Aparajeyo Bangla via TSC.
 

BSS Kishoreganj Correspondent reports:  This year, the largest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan.
 
As many as six lakh devotees participated in the 198th Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at Sholakia at 10 am. The congregation was led by Mufti Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, Khatib of the city's Borabazar Mosque.
 
Kishoreganj Additional Deputy Commissioner Mizbeh Rahmat said about six lakh devotees from home and abroad offered prayers together at this ground. This year, the largest number of devotees participated in this congregation.
 
After the prayers, special doa was offered for peace and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah, including Bangladesh, and specially the Muslims of Palestine.
 
BSS Sylhet correspondent reports: The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr in Sylhet was held at the 700-year-old traditional Shahi Eidgah ground at 8:30 am.
Muslim devotees stood in a row, forgetting the differences between rich and poor, and offered Eid prayers there.
 
Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Imam and Khatib of Bandarbazar Central Jama Masjid in Sylhet metropolis, led the prayers.
 
The renowned scholar of the subcontinent, Shaykhul Hadith Allama Mufti Rashidur Rahman Faruk, delivered the sermon and led the prayers after the Eid prayers.
 
The devotees raised their hands and prayed to Allah Almighty for the well-being of the country and the nation. After the prayers, the devout devotees exchanged Eid greetings by hugging one another.
 
According to BSS Dinajpur correspondent, the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held with religious fervor at the Dinajpur Gor-e-Shahid Boro Maidan surrounding over about 23 acres of land.
 
The Eid congregation was held at 9 am with the participation of a huge number of devotees.
 
Devotees from all over the country participated in this congregation. The congregation was led by the eminent Islamic Scholar Hafez Maulana Mahfuzur Rahman.
 
On the occasion, Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus conveyed his greetings and congratulations to the countrymen.
 
Advisers to various ministries, political parties, and leaders of social and cultural organizations also extended Eid greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the Muslims greatest religious festival.
 
Millions of city dwellers have already left the capital to share the joy of Eid with their beloved ones and relatives in their village homes.
 
To create a festive atmosphere on the holy day, various important roads and road islands in the capital were decorated with national and Eid Mubarak flags.
 
In addition, the national flag and Eid Mubarak flags are hoisted on all government and private buildings. Important government buildings in the city are also decorated with lights.
 
On the occasion, high-quality food is served in all prisons of the country, including the central prison, government hospitals, vagrant welfare centers, old-age homes, children's homes, children's homes, social disability centers, government shelters, safe homes, distressed welfare centers, and children and maternity centers/homes.
 
Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, and private TV channels and radio broadcast special entertainment programs on the occasion of the holy Eid festival.
 
With the aim of celebrating Eid with due dignity and joy, the district administration, upazila administration and city corporations at the local level celebrated Eid nationwide in coordination with the national level.
 
Besides, arrangements were made to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in the light of government programs at Bangladesh embassies abroad.
