DHAKA, April 6, 2025 (BSS) – SUF Mukarrema Reza, mother-in-law of late Arafat Rahman Koko, the youngest son of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, passed away at a city hospital early today.
She was 71.
She breathed her last at about 3:45am while receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka after a week of being admitted to the hospital with multiple health issues, according to family sources.
She is survived by her two sons and one daughter. Her husband HM Hasan Reza, former Engineer of RAJUK died in 2017.
Mukarrema Reza’s Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Asr prayers at the Old DOHS ground in Banani and then she will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, in a condolence message this morning, has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of SUF Mukarrema Reza.
He said, “Like her grieving family, I am also deeply saddened by the death of SUF Mukarrema Reza. As a loving mother, she raised her children to be well-educated and capable individuals through immense affection and tireless effort. She was also widely respected in her community as a pious and compassionate woman.”
The BNP acting chairman also extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and well-wishers.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a separate condolence message today, also expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of SUF Mukerema Reza and prayed for the salvation of her departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
