DHAKA, April 7, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Professor Dr Ali Riaz today said that they are making efforts to build consensus with participation of all so that they can focus on implementation of the reform activities.

"We need to build such consensus which will not just represent a particular society or a particular group or a particular section rather it will become truly national consensus," he told a discussion with Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party at the LD Hall of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Building here.

The members of the commission including Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Hoque and Dr Iftekharuzzaman and Special Assistant (Consensus Building) to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider were present on the occasion.

Professor Ali Riaz said it is necessary to ensure participation of ordinary citizens in the reform process along with political parties.

A 13-member delegation led by AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju participated in the discussion.

The National Consensus Commission has resumed holding discussions with political parties today after the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday to build a national consensus on the reform issue, according to a press release.

Earlier this morning, the Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal (ML), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), Samajtantrik Majdur Party (SMP) and Social Democratic Party submitted their opinions on the reform proposals to Prof Ali Riaz at the office of the Commission in the Parliament Building on behalf of left leaning democratic alliance.
