DHAKA, April 9, 2025 (BSS) - Police have so far arrested 72 persons from different parts of the country for their suspected involvement in Monday's vandalism during the protest demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza.
"A total of 72 people have been arrested so far (as of 8:00am today) in connection with attacks and vandalism on shops and businesses at different cities of the country during protests against the Israeli massacre in Gaza," said a statement of the Police Headquarters.
Of the arrestees, 33 were arrested in Khulna, 19 in Sylhet, 5 in Chittagong, 4 in Gazipur, 4 in Narayanganj, 3 in Comilla and 4 in Cox's Bazar, it said.
In a press statement, the press wing of the Chief Adviser's office said that as of now, at least 72 individuals have been arrested in connection with the vandalism and attacks on shops during protests on Monday.
Ten cases have been formally filed, it said.
"Further investigations are underway, and additional cases are in the process of being filed against those responsible for these reprehensible acts," the statement added.
