Osaka, Japan, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year 1432, was celebrated today as 'Bangladesh Special Day' at the ‘2025 Japan World Expo’ with vibrant festivity, cultural programme and enthusiasm.
Marking the advent of the Bengali New Year, Bangladesh mission here and Bangladesh pavilion in the expo made several arrangements, including a cultural programme at the pop-up stage of the expo venue at Osaka, Japan this afternoon.
Madol Cultural Dal, a Tokyo-based Bangladeshi cultural group performed the cultural event featuring patriotic songs and folk songs.
Bangladeshi communities living here were seen participating in the cultural events wearing sharee and panjabi with their family and friends on the day, which has been designated as 'Bangladesh Special Day' by the Expo authority.
Besides, officials from pavilions of different countries and expo visitors were seen enjoying the cultural events with huge enthusiasm and festivity.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Md. Daud Ali delivered the welcome speech at the event.
While addressing, Md. Daud Ali said, "We are so pleased to celebrate the Bengali new year in such a global event with people from all over the world."
"It creates a big opportunity for us to make people familiar with our language and its history along with promoting our business products, heritage and culture," he added.
Director General of Export Promotion Bureau Baby Rani Karmakar, Commerce Ministry Deputy Secretary Md. Shajebur Rahman and officials from the embassy and commerce ministry were also present on the occasion.
