Pahela Baishakh celebrated in districts

DHAKA, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year-1432, was celebrated in different districts across the country in an inclusive manner involving people from all ethnic groups today.

In Rangamati, Pahela Baishakh was celebrated with vibrant festivities and traditional fervor today.

To mark the occasion, a colorful procession organized by the district administration was brought out this morning. 

Zila Parishad Chairman Agriculturist Kajal Talukder inaugurated the procession at Rangamati Municipality premises at 8 am.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah, District Superintendent of Police Dr. Farhad Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin, District BNP General Secretary Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun, District Jamaat General Secretary Md. Mansurul Haque, LDP General Secretary Md. Didarul Alam and other administration officials were present, among others.

Dressed in colorful traditional attire, participants marched in a spirited parade that began at the municipality premises and concluded at the Deputy Commissioner's office, parading different roads of the town.

Following the joyous procession, a traditional folk fair was inaugurated by Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, adding to the festive spirit.

Later, a cultural program was arranged at Abdul Ali stage of the deputy commissioner's office.

In Jamalpur, Pahela Baishakh was celebrated in a befitting manner in today. District administration, political parties, various social and cultural organizations chalked out elaborate programmes, including rally, cultural events and sports, to mark the day.

A mammoth colorful rally was brought out from the Bakultola area in the district town this morning, participated by people of all walks of life.

The rally, led by Deputy Commissioner Hasina Begum, paraded through the main roads and concluded at the Shilpakala Academy premises, followed by a cultural programme at Shilpakala Academy auditorium.

Besides, Udichi arranged a cultural programme in front of Shaheed Minar this morning. Artistes of the organization rendered chorus song there. 
In Manikganj, Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year, was celebrated under the auspices of district administration.

The programmes of Manikganj district administration started with a joyous procession from Beotha Corner to Manikganj Government High School Playground with the participation of hundreds of people of all walks of life.

An attractive cultural function was held at Manikganj Government High School playground. The various cultural organisations and individuals took part in the function.

The traditional Bengali foods were supplied in jail, hospital and government Shishu Paribar on the occasion.

In Faridpur, marking the day, different educational institutions and socio-cultural organizations organized different programmes separately.

A New Year procession was brought from the Deputy Commissioner's office at 8 am today led by Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan Mollah.

Superintendent of Police Md. Abdul Jalil, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Bakahid Hossain, Local Government Deputy Director Rawshan Ali, Civil Surgeon Mahmudul Islam, Additional District Commissioner Yasin Kabir, Ramanand Pal, Md. Sohrab Hossain, District BNP Convener Modarres Ali Isa, District BNP Joint Convener Zulfikar Hossain Jewel, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Majlish-e-Shura Member Professor Abdut Tawab, various government and private institutions, political figures, NGO leaders and people from all walks of life were present at the time. 

Later, they joined the other programmes Ambika Maidan in the town.

In Thakurgaon, Pahela Boishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year, was celebrated with various programs, great enthusiasm and a festive atmosphere here.

The district administration organized a joyous procession, cultural programs and a day-long entrepreneur fair at the town's Judge Court Batmul square. 

Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Solaiman Ali, Additional District Magistrate and Municipal Administrator Sardar Mustafa Shahin, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Jasmine Nahar, Municipal BNP President Shariful Islam Sharif, National Journalist Association Thakurgaon District Branch President Zulfikar Ali, General Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, among others, were present.

Besides, Thakurgaon Government College brought out a joyous procession and organized a cultural program. 

In addition, the Government Women's College organized a joyous procession, Panta festival and a delightful cultural program. 

Bangladesh BGB-50 battalion, Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, Agradut Sports, Literature and Cultural Society and various social and cultural organizations of the district celebrated Pahela Boishakh with different programmes including procession, Panta festival and cultural programs.

In Khagrachhari, Pahela Baishakh was celebrated in a befitting manner in the district today.

To mark the occasion, a procession was brought from the Deputy Commissioner's office premises at 8 am today at the initiative of the district administration. After parading the main streets of the town, the procession ended at Town Hall premises.

The procession was attended by Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker, Superintendent of Police Md. Arefin Jewel, administration officials, various social organizations, and hill Bengalis of different ages. 

After the procession, a pleasant cultural program, organized by the Khagrachari District Shilpakala Academy was held.

Besides, Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year-1432, was celebrated in an inclusive manner in Sylhet, Habiganj, Dinajpur, Lakshmipur, Madaripur, Cumilla, Narayanganj, Bagerhat, Sherpur, Joypurhat, Naogaon, Bhola, Jhalokathi, Barguna, Sunamganj, Shariatpur, Panchagarh, Natore, Rajbari, Jashore, Netrokona, Chandpur, Noakhali, Magura, Kishoreganj, Tangail, Gazipur, Bogura, Nilphamari and Satkhira districts involving people from all ethnic groups today.
