DHAKA, April 29, 2025 (BSS) - Bangla Academy Director General (DG) Professor Mohammad Azam has underscored the importance of keeping all festivals above political influence, stating that Noboborsho (Bengali New Year) is not merely a celebration but a reflection of Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage.

"It is important to keep any festival, including Bangla Noboborsho, above political influence. If the relationship between politics, the state, and society evolves properly, no festival will be negatively affected," he said.

He made these remarks while addressing a seminar titled "Bangla Noboborsho: History, Culture and Legacy," organized by the Interdisciplinary Research and Development Consortium (IRDC) of Jagannath University today.

The seminar was held in the virtual classroom of the university's Computer Science and Engineering Department, marking the occasion of Bangla Noboborsho 1432.

History Department Professor Dr. Nasir Ahmed presented the keynote paper, while Islamic Studies Department Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Roich Uddin and Bangla Department Professor Dr. Fazle Elahi Chowdhury attended as panel discussants.

IRDC President and History Department Professor Dr. Mohammad Bilal Hossain presided over the event, while IRDC General Secretary and Proctor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tazammul Haque conducted the session.
