CHATTOGRAM, July 3, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 278 families, living at risky hilly areas in the city, got cash assistance from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to mitigate their suffering during the lockdown.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mominur Rahman handed over the cash assistance to the families at city's gymnasium hall of MA Aziz Stadium this noon.
The allocation received from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief was also distributed among 278 families.
DC Mominur Rahman said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed to ensure food for the needy and poor people during the ongoing lockdown. Unemployed people and their families living in the hilly areas have been brought under cash and relief assistance as per the government's directives, he added.
Earlier, the district administration has provided food assistance to the people of different professions and people living on the roadsides. He said many of the lower and middle classes were reluctant to seek help in public.
“They have the opportunity to call 333 or ask for help. Gift items are being delivered to the homes of those who want help in the dark of night. We want no one to fast in this situation” he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) SM Zakaria, Additional Deputy Commissioner (LA) Masud Kamal, NDC and Executive Magistrate Masud Rana, Staff Officer to DC and Executive Magistrate Omar Faruk and District Relief Officer Sajeeb Kumar Chakraborty, among others, attended the function.
