Bangladesh lauded as digital country across the world: Nuruzzaman

DHAKA, July 3, 2021 (BSS) - Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed today said Bangladesh has been lauded as a digital country across the globe.

"Bangladesh has been turned into a role model of development under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the country has gained reputation all over the world as a digital nation," he said here.

The minister made the comments while addressing a webinar titled  'Digital Technology in Allowance Distribution: Ensuring Transparency and Accountability' organized by Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh-TRNB.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was the chief guest at the webinar, chaired by TRNB President Rashed Mehdi, said an official release.

 "The goal set by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a digital Bangladesh after taking charge of the country for the second time in 2008.  The Prime Minister has been able to materialize the vision of building a digital Bangladesh ," he said.

The minister said the whole world is amazed at how the Prime Minister has changed the destiny of 170 million people of this country by turning the once unknown Bangladesh into a digital Bangladesh," he added.

 "Under her directive, the Ministry of Social Welfare is able to provide allowances to about one crore beneficiaries digitally including old age allowance, widow and husband abuse allowance, disability allowance and disability student stipend," Nuruzzaman said

 General Secretary, TRNB, Sameer Kumar Dey presented the keynote address at the webinar.
