RANGPUR, Nov 27, 2021 (BSS) - The average recovery rate of Covid-19
patients has reached 96.12 percent in Rangpur division where the pandemic
situation continues improving during the last three months.
Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said five more
Covid-19 patients healed on Friday raising the total number of recovered
people to 53,385 at the average recovery rate of 96.12 percent in the
division.
The 53,385 recovered patients include 11,598 of Rangpur, 3,683 Panchagarh,
4,363 of Nilphamari, 2,625 of Lalmonirhat, 4,527 of Kurigram, 7,354 of
Thakurgaon, 14,440 of Dinajpur and 4,795 of Gaibandha districts in the
division.
"Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,540 as only one fresh
case was diagnosed after testing 57 new samples at the positivity rate of
1.75 percent on Friday in the division," Islam said
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 3.03 percent on Thursday,
2.44 percent on Wednesday, 7.07 percent on Monday, 2.17 percent on Sunday and
1.33 percent on Saturday last in the division.
The district-wise break up of total 55,540 patients include 12,506 of
Rangpur, 3,822 Panchagarh, 4,459 of Nilphamari, 2,747 of Lalmonirhat, 4,646
of Kurigram, 7,662 of Thakurgaon, 14,830 of Dinajpur and 4,868 of Gaibandha
in the division.
"Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 2,99,452 collected samples
were tested till Friday, and of them, 55,540 were found positive with an
average positivity rate of 18.55 percent in the division," Dr Islam said.
Currently, the number of casualties remains steady at 1,245 as no new
deaths were reported during the last 24 hours from the division.
The district-wise break up of the 1,245 fatalities stands at 293 in
Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 68 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 254 in Thakurgaon, 328 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha.
The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division.
Among the 55,540 Covid-19 patients, 38 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units, including eight at ICU and five at High Dependency Unit
beds, after recovery of 53,385 patients and 1,245 deaths while 874 are
remaining in home isolation.
"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 66,44,248, and among them, 37,15,658 got the second dose of
the jab till Friday in the division," Dr Islam added.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged
all to abide by the health directives to remain safe despite the Covid-19
situation is continuing to improve.
