DHAKA, Dec 15, 2021 (BSS) - The High Court has ordered to stop the plying of the battery-run easy bikes on the street across the country.

     A High Court division bench comprising Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order today.

     At the same time, the court also banned the import of acid battery-run easy bikes. The court also issued a rule asking why the government's silence in this regard would not be illegal.

     Secretaries for industries, road transport and bridges and climate change, the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, the BRTA, the National Board of Revenue and the inspector general of police were asked to reply to the rule within stipulated time.

     President of BAAGH Eco Motors Kazi Zashimul Isla filed a writ petition on 13 December in this regard.
