DHAKA, Dec 19, 2021 (BSS) - The final round of Bangabandhu National Skills
Competition-2021 will be held on December 29-30 in the capital's four venues.
"The competition is being organised across the country with the aim of
creating new employment opportunities, to motivate the youth in skills on
training, accelerate the development of human resource and to develop skills
for creating employment in different countries," said Dulal Krishna Saha,
executive chairman (secretary) of National Skills Development Authority
(NSDA).
At the divisional level, 66 contestants would participate in the final
round and the finalists who achieve the desired score will have the
opportunity to participate in the 46th World Skills Competition to be held in
Shanghai, China in October next year, he said today while speaking at a press
briefing at Bangladesh Investment Development Authority's (BIDA) Bhaban in
the city's Agargaon area.
"Now, more than five lakh foreign manpower is working in the garment
sector only... Employment opportunities are not being created in the same way
as skilled manpower is being created in the country. As a result, country's
money is going abroad," he added.
At least one crore of skilled manpower is needed to retain the domestic
resources, he said, adding:"In order to sustain the economical growth, the
productivity of workers must be increased."
A total of 1,707 candidates from eight divisions took part for the
examination in 13 trades including painting and decorating, plastering and
drywall systems, fashion technology, print media technology, IT network
system administration, web technologies, cyber security, welding, cooking,
restaurant services, confectionary and bakery.
