It's time to give youths more responsibility: Radwan Mujib

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2021 (BSS) - Bangabandhu's grandson and Center for Research and Information (CRI) Trustee Radwan Mujib Siddiq today said that it's high time to give the young generation more responsibility.

"It's not enough to say verbally that we will hand over all to the young generation and they are our future', rather it's time to give the youths more responsibility," he said.

Radwan was addressing the Joy Bangla Youth Award giving ceremony organized Young Bangla at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Youth Development in the city's outskirts Savar.

Recorded speeches of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ICT Affairs Adviser and CRI Chairman Sajeeb Wazed Joy were played at the event while Radwan handed over the award to the recipients.

Noting that the youths should be given priorities at everywhere, including business and politics, the grandson of Bangabandhu said, "Young Bangla will give support to it and stay beside".

The Joy Bangla Youth Award has been given to the young generation, who has contributed to the society, he said, adding, "On this day, we remember the younger generation of 1971. Due to their courage and sacrifice we have been able to organize this ceremony here today".

"We are now marching towards 'Vision 2041' after materializing the 'Vision 2021'. All have been possible due to their (young generation of 1971) sacrifice. We pay glowing tribute to them," Radwan added.

He thanked and expressed gratitude to the CRI and Young Bangla teams, and jury board of the award and sponsors for organizing the event facing the challenge of Covid-19.

Calling for entries on September 25, Young Bangla, being operated under the CRI, continued to receive applications from young change makers across the country till October 31.

Inspecting 750 entries from youth-led organizations whose services transformed their communities, the jury primarily selected 31 organizations. As they pass the application through the further sift, the number of final winners comes down to 15.

The vibrancy of this year's JBYA resonated with the 50th year of the country's independence.

The award recipient entities are: Dhrubotara Youth Development Foundation (DYDF), Tech Academy, Asmani Jubo Nari Foundation, Amal Foundation, Third EYE, EcoVation Bangladesh, Bangladesher Dushprappo Chobi Somogro, Steps Ahead, Moner School, TransEnd, Reflective Teens, GenLab, Diner Alo Hijra Unnoyon Mohila Songstha, Bangladesh Tea Community Student Youth Council, and Medhabi Kallyan Sangstha (MKS).
