DHAKA, Dec 22, 2021 (BSS) - Dr Swapan Kumar Bala, Professor of Dhaka University's accounting and information system department, died at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in the city today.
He was 55.
Swapan, former commissioner of the Bangladesh Security and Exchange Commission (BSEC), breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Institute today, chairman of AIS department Dr Tahmina Khatun told BSS.
His body was taken to the faculty of business studies of the university where his colleague, students and well wishers paid their last tribute to the professor around 4pm.
Then, his body was also taken to DU Jagannath Hall premises and later, on the premises of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
Later, he was taken to his hometown in Gopalganj district for cremation, she furthered.
Former managing director (MD) of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Professor Swapan is survived by his wife, two daughters, relatives, friends and a host of admirers to mourn his death.
Professor Bala was made DSE MD back in 2013 and his tenure ended in 2016.
He was also the treasurer of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
