BARISHAL, Dec 26, 2021 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee Convener (Ministerial rank) Abul Hasanat Abdullah today said development of village along with urban areas is the prime goal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

  He said this while exchanging views with the newly elected chairmen and members of various union parishads of the district at his residence at Agailjhara in Barisal district.

  Abul Hasnat Abdullah said that the present democratic government has been able to uphold the democratic rights of the people through the elected representatives in the local governments of the country.

  He said the elected representatives at the local level will have to act as a bridge between the government and the people for achieving the desired development.

  Mayor of Barisal City Corporation Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, Mayor of Gournadi Municipality Haris Chowdhury and other local leaders were present at the view exchange meeting.

  Abdullah also said that the present government is implementing various programmes to ensure a planned, people-oriented and sustainable rural social system across the country.

  He advised the elected representatives not to be dependent on the government but to ensure public services as a self-reliant organization by taking various income generating programs at the local level.
