Journalist Riazuddin Ahmed laid to rest

   DHAKA, Dec 26, 2021 (BSS) - Ekhusey Padak recipient journalist Riazuddin Ahmed, who died of COVID-19 at a city hospital on Saturday at the age of 77, was laid to eternal rest with due respect in city's Banani graveyard today.

  He was buried at his grandmother's grave there after holding three namaz-e-janazas. Earlier, the body was taken to the Jatiya Press Club around 11 am where people from deferent professionals, including politicians, paid their last respects to him.

   Riazuddin was the founder editor of the two English dailies ---Financial Express and the News Today.

   He was a four-time elected president of the Jatiya Press Club. He had also served as the secretary of the undivided Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and the president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).

   Riazuddin received the 'Ekushey Padak' in 1993 for his outstanding contribution to journalism.

   Riazuddin Ahmed was born in 1945 in Narandi village of Narsingdi's Manohardi upazila. He passed MA in Economics from Dhaka University in 1967 and LLB in 1972.
