DHAKA, July 6, 2021 (BSS) - Customs intelligence today seized 18 American Brahman or Brahma cows at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner (Preventive) of Dhaka Customs House Mohammad Abdus Sadeq confirmed it.

He said the cows were brought at HSIA on a special cargo flight of Turkish Airlines from Texas , United States around 2.30 pm on Monday.

Being informed, Dhaka Customs House officials seized the cows.

Sadeq said that these cows were zeized as Brahma cow is not allowed to import in Bangladesh and the importer of cattle was not found there.

The cows worth about Taka 12.15 lakh have been kept in the custody of the Department of Livestock as there is no facility to keep them in the custody of Dhaka Customs House.
