JHALAKATHI, Dec 28, 2021 (BSS) - Fire Service recovered more two victims of a young man and a teenager of fire on launch 'MV Ovijan-10' from the south bank of the Sugandha River near the Jhalakathi launch ghat and from the Bishkhali River today.
The deceased were a boy aged around 12/13 and another aged around 30/35, according to the Jhalakathi fire service and civil defence.
The locals found the body floating in the river of Sugandha this morning and informed the police and fire service.
Later, Fire Service and Coast Guard members came to the spot and recovered the body. The body was sent to the hospital for postmortem.
Another body of a teenager was found floating in the river Bishkhali in Shachilapur area of Sadar upazila. Fire Service and Coast Guard members recovered the body from the spot around 1.30pm.
Burnt marks were found of the bodies, said Choyan Haldar, sub-inspector of Jhalakathi Sadar police station.
However, their identities could not be known immediately, he said.
Fire Service and Coast Guard members are conducting rescue operations in Sugandha and Bishkhali rivers for the fifth consecutive day.
The launch plying on Dhaka-Barguna route caught fire on the river of Sugandha in Jhalakathi at around 3 am on December 23.
