Abul Hasnat urges UP's public to stand by disadvantaged people

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2021 (BSS) - Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord
Implementation and Monitoring Committee Convener (equivalent to Minister)
Abul Hasnat Abdullah today urged the union parishad (UP)'s public
representatives to remain alert about improving the fate of the
disadvantaged people of the country.

   "Public representatives of the UP polls must always be vigilant in
improving the fate and living standard of disadvantaged people in the
country," he said.

   He came up with the call in a programme held at his residence premises at
Seral at Agailjhara in Barisal district as the chief guest, a press release
said.

   During the occasion, he also exchanged views with the newly elected
chairmen and members of Union Parishads of Uzirpur and Babuganj upazilas of
the district, the release added.

   Local leaders including Talukder Md Yunus, general secretary of district
Awami League and mayor of Gournadi municipality Md Harichur Rahman also
spoke, among others, on the occasion.

   Hasnat Abdullah said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led government is
implementing the Local Governance Support Project - 3 in more than 4.5
thousands Union Parishads of the country to directly involve the people in
the financial capacity building and development activities of the Union
Parishads.

   He also called upon the newly elected chairmen and members of the Union
Parishads to work unitedly for the overall development of their respective
areas.
