467 held in city for breaching rules of strict lockdown

  DHAKA, July 6, 2021 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today
arrested 467 people in the capital for staying outside from their
homes without any emergency reason on the 6th day of the strict
lowdown to prevent coronavirus infection.

  When contacted, DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Iftekharul
Islam said eight crime and traffic divisions of DMP conducted mobile
courts in different areas.

  Some 305 people were fined Taka 2 lakh 27 thousand 480 by mobile
court and 1,087 vehicles were fined Tk 25 lakh 29 thousand 25 under
the Road Transport Act, he added.

  Besides, police arrested 550 people on the first day and 320 on the
second day, 621 on the third day, 618 on the fourth day and 509 on the
fifth day in the capital.

  Police conducted search at various checkpoints in Ramna, Lalbagh,
Motijheel, Wari, Tejgaon, Mirpur, Gulshan and Uttara areas of the
capital simultaneously today.
