27 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 6, 2022 (BSS) - Twenty-seven more people have tested
positive for Covid-19 in five districts of the division on Wednesday, taking
the caseload to 99,937 since the pandemic began in March last year.  

     However, the new positive cases are equal to the previous day's figure
of 27, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.  

     Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,308 in the division after 21
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.  

     The death toll reached 1,692, including 687 in Bogura, 327 in Rajshahi
with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as one new fatality was reported
during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.  

     Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 23,214 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 19,982
have been released.  

     Meanwhile, 29 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 22 others were released from isolation during the
same time.  

     Of the 27 new cases, 11 were detected each in Rajshahi city, followed by
nine in Bogura, four in Natore, two in Naogaon and one in Pabna districts.  

     With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the
total cases now stands at 28,421 in Rajshahi including 22,976 in its city,
5,687 in Chapainawabganj, 6,468 in Naogaon, 8,460 in Natore, 4,759 in
Joypurhat, 21,834 in Bogura, 11,442 in Sirajganj and 12,866 in Pabna.  

     A total of 1,15,350 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine
since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly
coronavirus (COVID-19).  

     Of them, 1, 14,272 have, by now, been released as they were given
clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
