Govt committed to ensuring press freedom: Yasser

DHAKA, July 3, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today said the government is committed to ensuring press freedom in the country.

He made the remarks while speaking at a ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of the private television channel NTV.

The state minister said NTV had played a commendable role in upholding democracy and in the struggle to establish democracy in the country in the past expressing hope that the channel would continue this tradition in the future.

He said NTV which began its journey nearly 24 years ago has earned widespread popularity through its objective news coverage and contemporary programme. 

It gained the trust not only of audiences in Bangladesh but also of Bangladeshi expatriates living abroad, he added.

He extended his best wishes to NTV management and all of its staff and contributors whose tireless efforts have helped the channel achieve its current distinguished position.
