CHATTOGRAM, Jan 30, 2022 (BSS) – Religious leaders and scholars have recalled the contribution of Hazrat Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari (K) to establishing religious harmony and peace.
Due to his non-communal attitudes, Hazrat Syed Mainuddin was admired by all irrespective of race and religion, they told a reminiscence meeting and seminar here yesterday (Saturday).
Association of Ex-Students of Maizbhandar Rahmania Mainiya Darse Nezami Madrasah arranged the meeting at Chattogram Press Club, a press release said today.
Speaking as the chief guest, Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) chairman Hazrat Shahsufi Sayyid Saifuddin Ahmad Al-Hasani (M.G.A) said the philosophy of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is to guide people to an enlightened and purified life in the light of Islam through the right directions of human deliverance.
Since Islamic lessons are being ignored in the individual, family and social life and economic system, countless miseries and turmoil come in public life, he said.
Saifuddin Ahmad urged all to follow the life and philosophy of Sufis and Islamic scholars to get relief from the state of disorder, degradation and anarchy.
Chaired by association president Hafeez Nurul Amin, former dean of the Arts Faculty of Chittagong University (CU) Prof Sekandar Chowdhury inaugurated the seminar.
Prof Sekandar said honesty, tolerance, patience, mercy and sacrifice are the main steps of a religion.
Following these values, Hazrat Syed Mainuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari inspired people with the ideals of humanity and harmony.
“He (Maizbandari) used to purify people by raising their conscience to human dignity. Due to his non-communal attitude, he was admired by all irrespective of race and religion,” he said.
Anjuman general secretary Shah Mohammad Alamgir Khan, former president of Chattogram Bar Association and legal affairs secretary of Chattogram City Awami League Advocate Sheikh Iftekhar Simul Chowdhury, former chairman of CU’s Arabic Department Prof Dr SM Rafiqul Alam, and writer and columnist Prof Md Masum Chowdhury, among others, also spoke.
