New ACC chairman, two commissioners join office

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS)- Justice A. K. M. Asaduzzaman today assumed office as chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) while Dr Jahangir Alam Khan and Dr Sazzad Hossain Bhuiyan joined as commissioners.

The government on August 17 appointed the retired Appellate Division judge A. K. M. Asaduzzaman as ACC chairman and former secretary Dr. Jahangir Alam Khan and former Financial Reporting Council (FRC) chairman Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain Bhuiyan as commissioners.

Justice A. K. M. Asaduzzaman retired from the Appellate Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court in February this year. Before that, he served as a judge of the High Court Division for a long period.

Born in Naogaon district on March 1, 1959, Justice Asaduzzaman obtained bachelor and post graduation in law Rajshahi University. He was enrolled as an advocate of the district court in 1983, in the High Court Division in 1985 and in the Appellate Division in 2001.

ACC Commissioner Dr Jahangir Alam Khan is a retired former secretary and an officer of the 1985 batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration). Born in Manikganj district on July 6, 1963, Dr. Jahangir graduated from Dhaka University in law and later earned a PhD in law from the same university. 

He joined government service in 1988 and served as a magistrate and later as a deputy commissioner. 

Alongside his government service, he served as a part-time professor of law at several reputed universities in the country from 2010. Before joining the ACC, he was a professor of law at Independent University, Bangladesh, and served as a legal expert on various projects of the Ministry of Law.

The another commissioner, Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain Bhuiyan, is a former member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and served as chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), an organization under the Ministry of Finance.

Born in Cumilla on October 15, 1963, Dr. Sazzad obtained B.Com and M.Com degrees from the Department of Finance at Dhaka University. He began his career at the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh and AB Bank. In 1989, he joined the Department of Finance at Dhaka University as a lecturer. 

Later, he served as a part-time teacher in the Finance, Banking and International Business departments and at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University.

He has experience in finance, commerce, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, asset and liability valuation, transfer pricing, money laundering, revenue management and financial reporting.
