Faqir Mahbub urges engineers to work with dedication for telecom development

DHAKA, August 19, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today called upon engineers to utilise their knowledge, skills and innovative thinking to develop and modernise the country’s telecommunications infrastructure and ensure quality communication services for all.
 
He made the call while addressing as the chief guest an introductory meeting with assistant divisional engineers who joined the 27th BCS Telecommunications Cadre at the Directorate of Telecommunications in Tejgaon here, said a ministry press release.
 
Faqir Mahbub, also Science and Technology Minister, said the telecommunications system is one of the major foundations of a country’s economic and social development in the present world.
 
“Bangladesh is also moving forward rapidly through digital transformation. To further accelerate this progress, it is essential to build skilled human resources and modern technology-based telecommunications infrastructure,” he added.
 
Addressing the newly joined engineers, Faqir Mahbub Anam said government responsibility is not merely a job, rather it is an important opportunity to serve the people.
 
He stressed giving the highest importance to integrity, professionalism, accountability and patriotism in discharging responsibilities.
 
The minister also called upon them to regularly enrich their skills and knowledge in line with rapid technological changes.
 
Faqir Mahbub Anam said the capacity of the telecommunications sector must be enhanced to provide improved and uninterrupted communication services to people in remote areas of the country.
 
At the same time, all concerned should work sincerely to ensure affordable, quality and people-friendly telecommunications services by utilising the potential of new technologies, he said.
 
At the meeting, the assistant divisional engineers who joined the 27th BCS Telecommunications Cadre introduced themselves and exchanged views on their expectations and work plans for the development of the telecommunications sector.
 
At the outset of the introductory meeting, the minister visited the activities of the Cyber Threat Detection and Response (CTDR) Centre located at the Directorate of Telecommunications.
 
Director General of the Directorate of Telecommunications Md Ashraf Hossain presided over the meeting.
 
Officials concerned of the Directorate of Telecommunications and the newly appointed assistant divisional engineers were present.
