CHATTOGRAM, Jan 31, 2022 (BSS) - Fatema Zohora Begum, mother of former Mayor and city Awami League (AL) general secretary, was buried today at her family graveyard in the city  after a Namaj-e-Janaza,  held at Jamiatul Falah Maidan after Asr prayers.

Mother of AJM Nasir Uddin was laid to eternal rest at her family graveyard at Kadam Mubarak at 5:45 pm today.

Thousands of people irrespective of creed and crest, political affiliation, leaders of different professional bodies, socio cultural bodies attended her namaz-e-janaza.

The political leaders including AL Joint Secretary and also Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, City Mayor Reazaul Karim Chowdhury, City AL acting President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Nezam Uddin Hazari MP, A B M Fazle Karim Chowdhury, MP, Asheaq Uddah Rafique, MP and AJM Nasir Uddin among others addressed before the Namaz-e-Janaza.

They prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Leaders of Chattogram city north and south district AL, different social and political organizations, AL leaders, MPs, among others, paid their respective tributes by placing   wreaths at her coffin.
 
She breathed her last this morning at a city hospital at the age of 90.

Fetema Zohora Begum, left behind six sons, three daughters, grandchildren, and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
