DHAKA, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) – A delegation of US Congressional staff visited the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar and met the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), reflecting Washington’s continued engagement with the protracted Rohingya crisis.

The delegation, accompanied by officials from the UNHCR Multi-Country Office in Washington, D.C., visited the refugee camps and the RRRC office on Wednesday, according to the RRRC.

The RRRC said the visit reflected the continued interest and engagement of the United States in the Rohingya refugee situation and reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation in supporting the Rohingya population and humanitarian response in Bangladesh.

During the visit, the delegation met Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, also an additional secretary to the government.

They discussed the ongoing Rohingya humanitarian crisis, conditions in the refugee camps, humanitarian response and prospects for the safe, voluntary and sustainable repatriation of the Rohingyas to Myanmar.

The delegation comprised Noelle Dana, Senior Legislative Assistant to Representative Ryan MacKenzie; Robert Sar, Legislative Director to Representative Stephanie Bice; Ryan Carreiro, Legislative Assistant to Representative Marlin Stutzman; and Torie Cox, National Security Analyst at the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

Sarah Jacobs, Legislative Director to Representative Madeleine Dean; Maiesha Hossain, National Security Legislative Aide to Senator Chris Van Hollen; and Marshele Bryant, Legislative Director to Representative Maxwell Frost, were also part of the delegation.

They were accompanied by Nancy Jackson, Senior External Relations Officer, and Jessie Ainslie, External Relations Associate, from UNHCR’s Multi-Country Office in Washington, D.C.
