DINAJPUR, Sept 11, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain today said Aman paddy is expected to grow well as farmers have used fertilizers and others agri-inputs at suitable time during the current season in Dinajpur district.   

“I hope that there would be a bumper yield of Aman paddy this season ,” he said in his speech as the chief guest at a workers' convention and view-exchange meeting organized by Khanpur Union BNP of Birampur Upazila held at the Ratanpur High School ground at 3:30 pm.

Dr Zahid said, “Many people are spreading false propaganda against the government, saying that there is a fertilizer crisis. This is a false propaganda; there is no fertilizer crisis in the country.”

Every dealer is being supplied with adequate fertilizer according to demand. The government-fixed price of fertilizer has been set at Tk 27 per kg. No dealer will be able to sell it at a price higher than this.

“Field officers of the Upazila Agriculture Department have been deployed to monitor fertilizer sales activities. They are supervising the daily fertilizer sales and stock activities of dealers so that no one can create a fertilizer crisis in any way. Under each fertilizer dealer in every union, 3 sales representatives have been appointed so that farmers can easily purchase fertilizer according to their demand,” he added.

The minister said that after the BNP government was formed, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman set an example by waiving agricultural loans of up to Tk 10,000 for the country's farmers. The government has always been giving priority to the welfare of farmers.

Mentioning the Family Cards, he said, by next October, mothers of every family will receive family cards. In poor families, mothers will receive Tk 2,500 per month through family cards. With this money, mothers of poor families can raise ducks and chickens and cultivate vegetables to improve their households, and we will continue to provide such cooperation to realize this goal.

He added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has made arrangements for the advancement and development of women's education in the country, including providing textbooks and scholarships to girls up to the tenth grade, to take them forward in education.

“Similarly, we have taken measures to provide financial assistance so that no sick person from a poor family falls into a treatment crisis due to lack of money, and to ensure medical services for the citizens,” said Dr Zahid.
