DHAKA, Feb 9, 2022 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM
Rezaul Karim today said that the 'Mobile Veterinary Clinic' is the
beginning of a new chapter in the country's livestock sector.
"Earlier, the animal had to be taken to the doctors, now the doctor
will go to the animal. Mobile Veterinary Clinic has started a new
chapter in the history of the country. It has been possible under the
guidance and patronage of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as every state
has a responsibility towards all lives," he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Mobile
Veterinary Clinic distribution function held at the Department of
Livestock Services (DLS) in city's Farmgate, a press release said.
'Mobile Veterinary Clinic' is being implemented by the Livestock and
Dairy Development Project (LDDP) under the Department of Livestock
Services to bring modern and emergency veterinary services for
livestock to the doorsteps of marginal farmers in the country.
The minister further said the authority concerned is delivering
veterinary clinics to marginal farmers for immediate treatment of
animals.
In the first phase, 61 clinics distributed in 61 upazilas today, he
said, adding that in the next phase, 180 more veterinary clinics will
be distributed.
In the last phase, 119 more clinics will be distributed, he continued.
A total of 360 mobile veterinary clinics will be distributed in 61
districts, he said, adding: "We will provide mobile veterinary clinics
where veterinary care is required. The mobile clinics will have all
the modern medical facilities for veterinary treatment."
With Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Dr
Monjur Mohammad Shahjada in the chair, the programme was addressed,
among others, by Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock
Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury.
Director of Livestock and Dairy Development Project Abdur Rahim gave
the welcoming speech in the programme while Project Chief Technical
Coordinator Md Golam Rabbani presented the summary of Mobile
Veterinary Clinic there.
