DHAKA, March 21, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary
Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said people, who are using arms against the state,
will not be spared and they would be brought to book.
"We will not tolerate terrorist activities.....the law enforcement agencies
will take actions if anyone tries to hinder law and order in Rangamati," he
said addressing a meeting with Rangamati district unit Awami League leader
and activists as the chief guest at Ethnic Minority Cultural Institute.
Hanif said Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took
initiatives to establish peace and uplift the life of ethnic people after
assuming state power in 1996.
She then signed a peace treaty in 1997 to establish peace and stability in
Chittagong Hill Tract, but BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia opposed the pact.
He also said BNP-Jamaat is a follower of Pakistan as they do not believe in
the independence of Bangladesh, consequently, they are trying to pull back
the country.
"So, we will have to remain cautious against any kind of plots so that none
can hinder the development spree, being implemented under the dynamic
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
AL Organizing Secretary Abu Sayeed AL Mahmood Swapon, relief and social
welfare secretary Sujit Ray Nandi, religion affairs secretary Advocate
Sherazul Mostafa, Science and Technology Secretary engineer Md Abdus Sabur,
and Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua were present at the meeting.
With Awami League working committee's member and district AL president
Dipankar Talukdar in the chair, General Secretary of District AL Md Musa
Matbor conducted the event.
