DHAKA, March 25, 2022 (BSS) - Two persons, including a local Awami League (AL) leader, were shot to death and one was injured allegedly by a masked assailant in Shahjahanpur area in the city on Thursday night.

The deceased are Jahidul Islam Tipu, 55, former general secretary of the AL Motijheel unit and Samia Afran Prity, 22, student of Begum Badrunnesa Govt Girls' College.

Locals rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctors declared Tipu and Prity dead.

Injured Monir Hossain Munna, the driver of Tipu's car, was undergoing treatment at the hospital, Assistant Sub Inspector of DMCH police camp told BSS.

No one was arrested so far in the incident. Senior police officials including CID's crime unit are working at the spot.

Besides, CCTV footage of the area is already being collected. However, multiple teams of police are working in the field to catch the miscreant.
