DHAKA, March 31, 2022 (BSS) - Bangladesh and South Korea today agreed to
explore elevating the comprehensive partnership to the next level on the
occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two
nations.
This was decided during the third Foreign Office Ministry Consultations (FOC)
between the two countries held at State Guest House Padma here, a foreign
ministry press release said.
Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and South Korean First Vice-
Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun led the respective delegation
during the FOC.
Two countries also agreed to deepen cooperation in trade and investment,
infrastructure development, human resources development, defence,
agriculture, fisheries and biotechnology, and regional and global issues of
common interest and concern, including global peace and security and climate
change.
Foreign Secretary pledged to extend all necessary cooperation to further
promote Korean investments in Bangladesh.
Assuring to continue their development cooperation with Bangladesh's priority
sectors for rapid socio-economic advancements, the Korean Vice-Minister
highly praised Bangladesh's successes including graduation from LDC under the
capable leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Seoul also agreed to extend cooperation in diverse areas, including capacity
building in frontier technology and cyber security, Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (TVET), shipbuilding, clean energy and advancement of
green technology.
The Korean side highly lauded Bangladesh's contributions to global peace and
security and its leadership role in global climate change issues.
Bangladesh appreciated the Korean government's humanitarian support for the
Rohingyas temporarily sheltered in Bangladesh and urged Seoul to further
contribute to bringing a peaceful resolution of the crisis for security and
development in the region.
Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Delwar Hossain, Foreign Ministry
Director General (East Asia and Pacific) Kazi Russel Pervez and
representatives from different ministries also joined the Consultations.
