DHAKA, April 1, 2022 (BSS) - The 74th birth anniversary of veteran
politician, former presidium member of Awami League and 14-party alliance
spokesperson Mohammad Nasim will be observed tomorrow.
Marking his birthday, offering ziarat at his grave, doa and milad mahfil will
be arranged at Sobhanbagh Jame Masjid following health guidelines in the wake
of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Besides, a discussion on Mohammad Nasim and his political life will be held
with Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif as the chief
guest on Uttara campus of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College.
Nasim's son and Awami Swechchhasebak League vice-president Tanvir Shakil Joy
sought prayers from the people for the eternal peace of his father's soul.
Mohammed Nasim, son of Captain M Mansur Ali, was born at Kazipur upazila in
Sirajganj on April 2, 1948.
Captain M Mansur Ali, one of the organizers of the Liberation War and a
minister of the war-time government of Bangladesh and the third prime
minister of independent Bangladesh, was killed inside Dhaka central jail on
November 3, 1975.
Nasim obtained his bachelor's degree from the then Jagannath College, now
Jagannath University.
He was elected lawmaker six times. Being elected an MP from Sirajganj-1 in
2014, he became a health and family welfare minister on January 12 of that
year.
During the 1996 AL government tenure, he served as minister for home, housing
and public works, posts and telecommunication ministries.
Nasim passed away while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized
Hospital on June 13, 2020, at the age of 72.
