DHAKA, April 1, 2022 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan 
Mahmud today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of eminent 
elocutionist and general secretary of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote Hasan Arif.

In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul 
and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

The minister said Hasan Arif's death is an irreparable loss to the field of 
recitation. Arif's role in the anti-autocratic movement and cultural 
expansion will always be remembered, he said. 

Hasan Arif passed away at the city's Bangladesh Specialised Hospital around 2 
pm today at the age of 57.

Arif had been on life support for the last few months after he was infected 
with coronavirus (Covid-19) in December last year.
