DHAKA, April 24, 2022 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain today urged the information cadre officers to work for ensuring more involvement of the people in the country's development activities.

"Building public confidence towards development activities and ensuring direct participation of the people is a prerequisite for sustainable development," he said.

The information secretary came up with the statement while addressing an iftar mahfil and discussion organized by BCS Information Association (BCSIA) as the chief guest at Tatya Bhaban auditorium in the city's Kakrail Area, said a press release.

BCSIA President and Director General of the Department of Films and Publications SM Golam Kibria presided over the discussion while Secretary General and President's Deputy Press Secretary Munsi Jalal Uddin conducted it.

Mokbul said information cadre officers must play a leading role in providing information on development activities to the mass media and implement the publicity campaigns at grassroots level with professionalism.

He said that the training activities have been increased in the country and abroad to make the BCS information cadre officers more skilled and technologically sound to ensure information services to the people.

Retired information officials Syed Sujauddin Ahmed, Dr Md Jahangir Hossain, AHM Abdullah, Surath Kumar Sarker and Mahfuzur Rahman, Principal Information Officer (PIO) Md Shahenur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Film Archive Md Nizamul Kabir, Director General of Mass Communication Department Md Zashim Uddin, Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Film Censor Board Md Saifullah and Additional Director General of the National Institute of Mass Communication Faizul Haque joined the event, among others.
