DHAKA, April 26, 2022 (BSS) – Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dr Mohammed Shafi, a retired professor of Dhaka University's Fisheries Department.
In a condolence message, he said the nation has lost a devoted teacher at the death of Prof Safi.
His death is an irreparable loss to the country’s education sector, he mentioned.
Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said after retirement, Prof Shafi had donated his savings for the construction of the building at the fisheries department.
“Making such contribution is very rare in society now. It’s a unique example of his love for the institution where he taught,” he said, adding that even after retirement Prof Shafi used to came to his department to exchange views with students and his colleagues.
The former DU VC prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to bereaved family.
Prof Shafi died at a city hospital in the early hours of today at the age of 85. He was suffering from old age complications and post Covid-19 effects.
