DHAKA, May 9, 2022 (BSS) - Noted educationist and former Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique today urged the new generations to follow Dr MA Wazed Miah's 'practice of truth' as he thought about their future throughout his life.
"Dr Wazed used to practice truth throughout his entire life. We hope the new generations will follow this ideal as he always thought about their future," he said.
Dr Arefin paid glowing tributes to the memory of Dr Wazed while talking to BSS on the renowned nuclear scientist's 13th death anniversary.
He said Dr Wazed had formed Bangabandhu Education and Research Council and instilled the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the spirit of the Liberation War into the new generations through it.
Arefin, also President of Bangabandhu Education and Research Council as successor of Wazed Miah, said, "Along with practicing science, Dr Wazed had a dream of changing society. In absence of him, we all should materialize his dream".
His two books - Fundamentals of Thermodynamics and Fundamentals of Electromagnetics - have been recognized as the basic textbooks for the science education across the world, he said.
Noting that Dr Wazed also authored a book on memories of Bangabandhu titled “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibke Ghire Kichhu Ghatana O Bangladesh”, Dr Arefin, also Chairman of BSS Board of Directors, stressed presenting the thoughts of Dr Wazed about Bangabandhu before the new generations.
Dr Wazed did not enjoy any benefit as the son-in-law of the Father of the Nation and the husband of the Prime Minister, which set a unique example of leading a non-greedy and humble life, he added.
"His simplicity encourages us to lead a simple life," Dr Arefin said.
Renowned nuclear scientist with international repute and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr MA Wazed Miah (Sudha Miah) died on May 9, 2009.
He was born on February 16, 1942 in a respectable Muslim family of Laldighee Fatehpur village in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.
