Drive against Aedes mosquito operated in DSCC areas

DHAKA, May 10, 2022 (BSS) - Special combing operation were operated against Aedes mosquito today in more than 50 areas under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

This was the first day of the three-day operation of DSCC aims to eradication of Aedes mosquito breeding grounds to control dengue infection, said a press release.

Farid Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Dhaka University, inaugurated the special combing operation in the central library area of Dhaka University in the morning.

Later, the activities were conducted at Kala Bhavan, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration, International Hostel, Registrar Building, IBA Building, Dhaka University Central Jame Mosque, Hakim Chattar, Gurudwara Nanakshahi and Institute of Modern Linguistics.

Similarly, larvae eradication activities were conducted in different areas including Naya Paltan, Bijaynagar, Fakirapul, Dingi restaurants, Nawabganj Park and Irani Math.

During the operation, Aedes mosquito larvae were found at about 69 installations and homes.

Through the operation,  Aedes mosquito breeding grounds were destroyed and warned the owners that if Aedes mosquito breeding grounds were found in the future, fines would be levied.
