DHAKA, May 11, 2022 (BSS) - A court here today placed two workers of a food store of Dhaka New Market on three-day remand each in a case lodged for obstructing police from conducting their duty during the recent deadly clash between the students of Dhaka College and traders of the area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order as police produced Md Babu Hossain and Kawser, workers of 'Capital' food store in New Market, before the court and pleaded to place them on five-day remand.
Police on May 9 arrested the duo from capital's Hajaribagh area.
Workers of Capital were involved in sparking the clash with the workers of nearby food store 'Welcome', ultimately causing the deadly conflict with the students of Dhaka College.
The clash ensued between Dhaka College students and traders in the capital's New Market area on the night of April 18. They again locked into battle the next day, resulting in deaths of a courier service staff and a shop worker.
Courier service staff Md Nahid Hossain's father filed a murder case with New Market Police Station over the killing of his son, while police filed the another one for obstructing the law enforcers from doing their duties.
