Eminent educationist Prof Rahim Khan passes away

  RAJSHAHI, July 18, 2021 (BSS) - Eminent educationist and former Professor of Rajshahi University Abdur Rahim Khan passed away at a private clinic in the city early this morning at the age of 74.
 
He left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a large number of students, academic colleagues and host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death, a RU release said.
 
During his long academic career in the Department of Chemistry from 1981 to 2014, Prof Rahim Khan supervised a number of PhD, M. Phil and post-graduation thesis papers.
 
Before joining Rajshahi University he was an assistant professor in the department of chemistry in Rangpur Carmichael College for around ten years.
 
Besides, he has a remarkable number of research papers and books at home and abroad to his credit.
 
Born in Jhenaidah district in 1947, Prof Abdur Rahim obtained B.Sc and M.Sc degrees from Rajshahi University in 1968 and 1969 respectively and got PhD degree from the same university in 1994.
 
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Meherchandi Jam-e Mosque after Ashr prayers and he was laid to eternal rest at RU graveyard.
 
Meanwhile, RU VC-in-Charge Prof Sultan-Ul Islam and Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Jakaria expressed deep condolence at the death of Prof Abdur Rahim Khan and conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
 
They also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
